Circuit Replacement

Circuit replacement is the right approach when individual circuits are letting the whole installation down - perhaps due to frequent tripping, overheating accessories, or wiring that has clearly seen better days. Instead of guessing, I use proper test equipment to confirm which circuits are defective, then replace them with correctly sized cable and protection that match the way the building is used.

With 15 years of hands‑on experience, I handle circuit replacements in a structured way. First, I identify the exact route, loading, and condition of the existing circuit. Then I design a replacement using suitable cable types, proper containment where needed, and appropriately rated breakers or fuses. That might mean upgrading a ring final that has been chopped into too many spurs, separating heavy loads onto their own circuits, or renewing lighting wiring that has suffered damage over time.

When I replace a circuit, I also review associated accessories - sockets, switches, and junction points - to ensure terminations are sound and enclosures have the right ratings for their location. Any new work is tested for insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, and RCD operation where applicable, so I can prove the circuit is safe before it is put back into service.

All circuit replacements are documented with updated circuit schedules and, where required, NICEIC certification. I explain in plain language what has been changed and why, and highlight any remaining areas of concern elsewhere in the installation. You end up with circuits that operate reliably, protect people and property correctly, and form a solid base for any future additions or upgrades.
